Assessment and Service Connect (ASC)
Assessment and Service Connect is a culturally responsive, short-term support service for families who have been referred by Child Safety Queensland. We work together with families to understand what kids need and how we can help parents make changes towards improving child wellbeing including safety.
Through an assessment process, we work alongside families to identify what is going well, what the family might like to change and help the family get ready to try things differently.
We can help with
- Keeping kids central to the assessment process and considering strengths and needs of every family member.
- Supporting problem solving and decision making that helps families feel empowered towards change.
- Exploring circumstances that can get in the way of positive parenting and working together to find supportive solutions
- Raising the voice of kids and families within large government and non-government systems.
- Keeping kids at home safely with their families and communities.
- Understanding Child Safety processes.
Connections to services that:
- Provide ongoing support to enhance momentum towards change.
- Recognise and respond to challenges that affect family wellbeingsuch as domestic and family violence, mental health, alcohol and substance use and intergenerational trauma.
- Develop stronger life skills such as setting and maintaining routines, budgeting and financial health and managing a household.
- Provide parenting support and strategies.
- Support and foster connections to culture and community.

Referrals are only accepted from Child Safety.
