Thank you for giving Maddie a second chance

7 July 2020

From the bottom of our hearts, we want to say a massive THANK YOU for your generosity during this tax time. Our I Love Mondays campaign has been the most successful to date, raising almost $1 million for children who have suffered abuse and neglect.

Act for Kids CEO Dr Neil Carrington said every donation big or small together makes a huge difference to the lives of little Aussies.

“Our annual tax appeal is a great reminder that a tax-deductible donation of any value from people like you, can give children like Maddie, a second chance at childhood.”

“Together, we can provide free life-changing therapy to help abused and neglected children live the safe and happy childhoods they deserve,” Dr Carrington said.

Your donations will help thousands of vulnerable children overcome their trauma, one day at time. Kids just like Maddie will now have the opportunity to receive evidence-based integrated therapy and start to heal their little hearts.

None of our work could be done without our amazing supporters. Your generosity helps us work towards our vision of all kids having a safe and happy childhood, free from abuse and neglect.

Sadly, Maddie is just one of the 47,516 children confirmed to have suffered abuse or neglect in one year alone. We have provided free therapeutic support for thousands of kids and families – but there are still many more who need urgent assistance right now.

At Act for Kids, we are working tirelessly to prevent and treat child abuse and neglect right across Australia. But, we can’t do what we do without you!

It’s not too late to donate.

Maddie’s story

Five-year-old Maddie has lived through moments that we can only imagine. From birth, she was physically, emotionally and verbally abused by her parents, witnessing severe domestic violence and substance abuse, including Ice. Her parents showed her very little love and affection and there were no games or learning experiences in her home. Most days, Maddie was left to her own devices, charged with feeding, entertaining and caring for herself.

Although she looks like any other little girl, the trauma she suffered has left scars that will last a lifetime without ongoing therapy.

Every Monday, Maddie has been receiving speech therapy and psychological support from Act for Kids to help her overcome her trauma…
