The impact of trauma can stay with them – showing up in how they feel, behave, and connect with others.
But with the right support, things can begin to change.
At Act for Kids, our therapy teams work alongside children to help them make sense of what they’ve been through, build new skills, and feel more at ease in the world again.
This end of financial year, your support can help more children move through the storm and into calmer, brighter days.
Some children arrive constantly on alert. Others are quiet and withdrawn. Many don’t yet have the words to explain how they’re feeling.
Our role is to create a calm, consistent space where each child feels safe enough to begin.

With your support, children can access our Integrated Therapy Service – where psychologists, speech therapists and occupational therapists work together supporting each child.
This coordinated approach means children don’t fall through the gaps. Instead, they receive the right support at the right time, helping them build the skills they need to navigate the world with more confidence and ease.
Over time, with patience and care, you start to see small but powerful changes. A child begins to trust. To express themselves. To feel more in control.
The small moments of calm and trust are the moments that matter. They’re the beginning of something different.
With your help, more children can move beyond the impact of trauma and begin to experience calmer, brighter days.
By the time Jasmine* came to Act for Kids, she was always on edge.
Loud noises made her freeze. Small changes to her routine could feel overwhelming. At school, she struggled to concentrate and kept her distance from other children.
What looked like difficult behaviour was something much deeper. Jasmine was trying to cope in a world that didn’t feel safe.
In therapy, things didn’t change overnight.
But slowly, with patience and care, Jasmine began to feel more settled. She started to understand her feelings and find ways to calm her body.
One day, she picked up a crayon and drew a rainbow.
“This is for after the rain,” she said.
It was a small moment – but it meant everything.
