What is Re-ACT CQ?
Re-ACT CQ is a trauma informed therapy service providing outreach support to children and young people aged 8 to 18 years old in Central Queensland.
Our team support children and young people by:
- providing a safe place to express and process difficult thoughts and feelings.
- giving them the opportunity to explore the impact of their experiences.
- helping them develop skills to manage unpleasant physical sensations.
- empowering their parents and caregivers to deal with the complexity of the situation and any challenging behaviours of the child or young person.
How it works
The Re-ACT CQ team works with children aged 8 to 18 years of age to help impacted young people heal from trauma and achieve future goals
Therapy sessions can be held at a child’s school, at a local community centre, at an Act for Kids service centre (Rockhampton or Gladstone), or through a service or organisation you already engage with for support.
Families engaging with Act for Kids through Re-ACT CQ will initially meet with their dedicated therapist weekly through face-to-face or telehealth sessions.
Over time, these sessions may change to fortnightly or monthly, depending on the progress of your child towards the agreed goals and outcomes
Our Partnership
QCoal Foundation and Act for Kids have partnered to deliver Re-ACT CQ. An impactful program addressing a crucial service gap in trauma-informed therapy services for Central Queensland’s children.
Although the Re-ACT CQ base is in Rockhampton, our therapist is regularly on the road delivering face-to-face therapy sessions at outreach locations throughout the region, as well as telehealth appointments to ensure kids in Central Queensland have access to vital therapy.
This partnership aims to meet the urgent need for trauma-informed support and gather evidence to better understand both need and impact, to not only address the pressing need for trauma-informed support but also contribute to a brighter future for Central Queensland’s children.

How to access Re-ACT CQ
Families and children can be referred to Re-ACT CQ by community members, Queensland Government organisations, other family members, or they can refer themselves directly to Act for Kids.
