When the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited Brisbane for the Governor’s reception on Saturday 19 April they met with two young leaders from Act for Kids.

Sam Melching and Emmanuel Pappas were chosen to attend the intimate Governor’s reception after the Governor’s office called for nominations for young leaders in the community.

Sam Melching (Gold Coast Family Support Alliance Coordinator at Act for Kids) and Emmanuel Pappas (Board Director at Act for Kids) are wonderful examples of how young leaders are making a difference to the lives of abused and neglected kids.

Sam Melching, Family Support Alliance Coordinator at Act for Kids, said she was honoured to take part in the special tradition and represent an organisation that is driven by passion and purpose.

“I had the rare opportunity to speak briefly with Prince William about the issue of child abuse and we got talking about the importance of early intervention. He was very interested to learn more about our programs and what was being done to prevent abuse and neglect”, Sam said.
