Abused and neglected children on the Gold Coast will be receiving some extra special Christmas gifts this year, thanks to the generosity of the Grade Five and Six students at The Southport School (TSS).
The boys held raffles to raise over $5,000 which they would then use to buy gifts for the children receiving therapy and support services at Act for Kids.
The young philanthropists chose to support Act for Kids due to our strong presence on the Gold Coast with centres at Labrador, West Burleigh and Upper Coomera.
Act for Kids Fundraising Manager Karen McIntyre met the boys at Kmart at Pacific Fair this week to observe the madness that was 30 children filling trolleys full of toys!
“This is the second time that TSS have supported our kids at Christmas and every time I am just blown away by the excitement and the enthusiasm from the students to help other kids and learn more about the children at Act for Kids,” Karen said.
“This year the boys broke up into groups and shopped for lots of different items, they bought baby essentials, stationary, sporting equipment, clothes and of course lots of toys for boys and girls their age”.
Act for Kids are incredibly grateful to the boys at The Southport School for their thoughtful gifts and they are looking forward to passing them on to the kids who need them most this Christmas.
