This Child Protection Week, Act for Kids is encouraging Brisbane city-goers to put their hands up against child abuse at a fun event in Southbank.

TrustOn Friday the 9th of September, the Act for Kids team will be taking over the Southbank Piazza and attempting to get over 3,500 painted hand prints on one single roll of paper.

Having only ever been done once before in the world, Act for Kids are hoping that the public will join in the fun and volunteer their hand prints to help raise awareness of child abuse and neglect.

With the total number of substantiated cases of child abuse and neglect in 2014-15 reaching over 42,000*, Child Protection Week held from the 4-10th of September shines a much needed light on charities such as Act for Kids who work tirelessly to prevent and treat child abuse and neglect.

“If you’re in Southbank between 9am and 3pm on Friday we invite you to come and contribute your hand print to our mural and put your hand up against child abuse and neglect,” said Dr Neil Carrington, CEO for Act for Kids.

“The more people that draw attention to this important issue, the more we can help give these precious kids their childhoods back.”
