The Property Industry Foundation (PIF) continues to change little lives across Australia with various initiatives to support Act for Kids and the treatment of childhood abuse and neglect.
This year, PIF has provided funding to deliver 1,748 therapy hours delivered by our Speech and Language Pathologist in Ipswich, Queensland. This allowed us to work with 25 children and provide them with specialist speech therapy and assessments to help them overcome developmental delays due to trauma.
Act for Kids has recently opened our first Victorian Integrated Therapy Centre in Broadmeadows with a goal of reducing the impact of child and neglect in the area. PIF have generously agreed to fund, design and project manage the fit-out of a therapeutic play space to service both children and families at the centre.
Act for Kids CEO, Dr Neil Carrington says the support from PIF will transform this space into a place that children actually want to come to.
“Therapy can be scary for children, being in a new environment and processing some big feelings is tough for any child, let alone children who have previously experienced trauma. This new play space will give children a safe, interactive and enjoyable place to open up and share their past experiences,” Dr Carrington said.
“We are incredibly grateful for all the support we receive from the Property Industry Foundation. They truly are making a difference to the lives of vulnerable kids and families on a national scale.”
