Brisbane’s property industry came together this month to celebrate the year that was and raise vital funds for some of Brisbane’s most vulnerable kids.

The Property Council of Australia’s Annual Christmas Lunch had a huge turnout of over 1,100 guests, who raised over $52,000 in just one hour in the Property Industry Foundation Raffle!

Top prize was a 7 night trip to the Maldives, generously donated from Flight Centre and second prize was a stunning diamond necklace from Anthonys Fine Jewellery.

Guests enjoyed a delicious meal and great entertainment including special guest, comedian Arj Barker all the way from the United States.

Property Industry Foundation’s Queensland Chairman, Brian McGuckin said they are delighted with the great success raising $52,750 for Act for Kids at the recent lunch in Brisbane – exceeding last years record fund raising of $50,000.

“As a Foundation we are committed to improving the lives of both the young homeless and kids at risk and Act for Kids consistently demonstrates its strong impact with the latter. Their skill in counselling and protecting the most vulnerable and abused young children in our society is second to none. And we know that consistency in our support year on year is key to their ongoing success,” Mr McGuckin said.

Dr Neil Carrington, CEO of Act for Kids said this event is one he looks forward to every single year.

“It’s such a joyous occasion, the guests are always beyond generous and year after year, we continue to raise more and more for our kids.

This year’s donation is enough to provide over 500 therapy hours, and will go a long way to cutting down the wait list at our Act for Kids Integrated Therapy Centre in Ipswich,” Dr Carrington said.

“We are so grateful to the Property Council of Australia and the Property Industry Foundation for their ongoing support of our organisation and for helping us give more children a second chance at childhood.”
