A mother of five with an online following of more than 1.2 million left the crowd in awe with her deeply personal story of strength, resilience and overcoming adversity at the sixth annual Act for Kids International Women’s Day Lunch.

A sold-out room of 230 people came together at The Calile Hotel on March 4 for an afternoon of inspiration and collaboration, while raising crucial funds for children who have experienced trauma or are at-risk of harm.

Fitness expert Chontel Duncan, lifetime Act for Kids ambassador Kay McGrath OAM, Shark Tank Australia’s Maxine Horne and respected boutique retailer Samantha Ogilvie headlined the lunch, hosted by M.C and journalist Kim Skubris.

Chontel’s raw and moving account of her personal journey from humble beginnings to becoming a leader of Australia’s fitness industry was a highlight of the afternoon, drawing applause during the important celebration of women’s equality.

The theme of IWD this year was #GiveToGain, encouraging a mindset of generosity and collaboration.

GiveToGain resonates deeply with Act for Kids’ purpose, because when we invest in children’s safety and healing, we all gain.

Guests at Wednesday’s event were treated to a two-course lunch, an exclusive preview of Samantha Ogilvie’s latest seasonal fashion and opportunities to win premium raffle and silent auction prizes.

Money raised from the event will help fund the Act for Kids’ Integrated Therapy Service, directly supporting children who have experienced trauma or are at-risk of harm.

Act for Kids hosts a range of events throughout the year to help raise funds for our Integrated Therapy Service. You can stay up to date with the latest events here.
