Act for Kids would like to give a massive congratulations to Act for Kids Program Manager Miranda Bain and the Gold Coast Assessment and Service Connect (ASC) team for being awarded the 2019 Domestic Violence Prevention Month Award!
The Gold Coast team received the award in recognition and appreciation for their incredible, ongoing commitment, collaboration and contribution to the support and safety of women, men and children impacted by domestic violence.
Miranda said she feels very proud to have received the award and thankful for the opportunity to help families who have been impacted by domestic violence.
“Child protection agencies and domestic violence services don’t typically share a practice framework – we are child focused and they are often adult focused. ASC Child and Family Consultants, Chloe Brewer and Morgan Mahanga, were both instrumental in the success of our operations and strategies towards DV prevention.”
“This award acknowledges the energy and time put into developing a collaborative approach within child safety’s investigation and assessment process – operationally and strategically to support each other and our shared clients,” Miranda said.
The Gold Coast team’s work includes sharing resources, advice and advocacy with domestic violence colleagues and directly with clients impacted by domestic violence during Nerang Child Safety’s investigation and assessment process.
Di Farmer, Minister for Child Safety, Youth and Women and for the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence, presented Act for Kids with the award at the Domestic Violence Prevention Month Launch at the top of the Q1 Observation Deck on May 3rd.
