It was 6-months before Christmas…

Last Saturday, friends Rachelle Foreman, Lara Schlinker and Act for Kids National Ambassador Kim Skubris organised a Christmas feast and wine tasting to raise vital funds for children and families effected by child abuse and neglect.

The three Mums are together embarking on the Three Capes Trek for Kids in Tasmania this coming September.

Clovely Estate hosted the event, dishing up an elaborate festive feast and showcasing their award-winning wines at their Red Hill cellar door. Over 50 guests attended the event to, not only support our trekkers, but to raise awareness and money for vulnerable kids and families around the nation.

With a huge feasting table, generous wine samples and vibrant hosts, the event raised over $4,000. That’s enough to provide 40 hours of life-changing therapy to kids who have suffered abuse and neglect.

With the help of generous sponsors, supporters and friends, Kim, Rachelle and Lara were able to offer incredible raffle prizes for guests to win on the night.

“Raising money for Act For Kids warms my heart, and gives me more than I contribute! It offers me a chance to spend time with friends, make new ones, and encourage our community to unite for a wonderful cause. I’ve never been very good at asking for help, or money.”

“However, I’ve learnt that there are many generous people that want to give, but they don’t feel they have the time or the inclination to organise fundraising. They are very happy to support someone, like me, who is passionate about helping to heal little hearts, and to support such an amazing organisation,” Kim said.

With less than five weeks to go before embarking on the Three Capes Lodge Walk, Kim, Rachelle and Lara are hosting a number of events in hope of reaching their fundraising goal of $20,000 for Act for Kids! Next weekend, the trio are hosting a sophisticated High Tea for women of all generations, and due to the success of last Saturdays event, the high tea is unsurprisingly sold out!

“The upcoming trek will be a wonderful chance to spend quality time with fabulous, busy friends and also meet wonderful fellow trekkers! It will be wonderful to explore this magnificent part of Tasmania and take in the scenery’s beauty while raising money for abused and neglected kids and their families. We are all so busy and sometimes it’s just good to stop, reflect, and breathe in Mother Nature.”

Follow their journey as they Trek for Kids along the rugged landscape of the Tasmanian coast and donate to their Everydayhero pages to help provide free life-changing therapy to kids and families effected by abuse and neglect.
