Long-time corporate sponsor of Act for Kids, insurance provider Auto & General help another hugely successful charity Golf Day in April raising over $80,000 to help abused and neglected children. Held at the Brisbane Golf Club, the event was just another example of the Auto & General community coming together to support a common cause.

Auto & General Community Manager, Gerry O’Shaughnessy recruited more than thirty business partners including major sponsors Optus, MircoSoft/Bing, QBE, Tacticall Recruitment, CarSales & Digital Genius who all kindly donated money and time to making the day such a success.

“The team at Auto & General care so passionately about both our own families and those in the community. Knowing what it takes to make a family work gives us a small understanding of what is needed to support those less fortunate than ourselves, especially young children.” Mr O’Shaughnessy said.

“Over the past eight years, we have formed a bond with the Act for Kids team and our passion to assist grows stronger every year. Whether it is volunteering at events, workplace giving and fundraising in the office or visiting Act for Kids’ therapy centres – the desire to support Act for Kids shines through our teams across all levels.”

Act for Kids CEO Dr Neil Carrington said this contribution will go directly to our Integrated Therapy centres to deliver intensive therapy to children in need.

“A contribution of this size could provide 800 hours of intensive therapy for children that have been abused or neglected and give them access to a psychologist, speech therapists and occupational therapist all in one place,” Dr Carrington said.

“The integrated model we work to means children benefit from receiving support across multiple disciplines and this ultimately helps children achieve the best possible outcomes from therapy.”
