Fundraising for us

Some Ideas

A couple of bucks might not seem like much, but when you combine that with other
people’s contributions it adds up quickly – every dollar helps. There are so many ways
you can fundraise for Act for Kids, these are just some ideas:

Ask for donations instead of birthday or christening gifts

Organise a games or trivia night and ask for donations to play

Host a morning tea, cocktail party or unique soirée and ask for a donation to attend

Hold a raffle at your club or work

Donate a percentage of sales from your business and share your commitment and generosity with your staff and customers

Ask us for a donation box for your shop counter so customers can donate their spare change

Everyday Hero and GoFundraise are popular websites where you can set up your own personal page in just a few minutes and email a link to your friends and workmates to sponsor you – these sites even take care of the financial side of things. You can be part of listed events and activities or create your own.

Fundraising Tips

Fundraising can be as simple as a donation from friends, holding a raffle at your
workplace or hosting a trivia night, or as challenging as running a marathon or trekking
across the desert. Here are some tips to help you run a successful fundraiser.

Ask your friends, family and colleagues for their support by letting them know about your fundraiser and be sure to keep them updated on your progress.

If you have created an online fundraising page through Everyday Hero or GoFundraise, share your page with your networks and keep your supporters engaged by regularly refreshing your page with pictures and updates on your activities.

Other great ways to communicate with your networks include:

  • email and social media – ask your supporters to share your fundraiser with their networks
  • newsletters and flyers
  • contacting your local paper.

Create a fundraising team. Teams are truly a great way to get others involved, have fun, and access a wider pool of resources and networks.
  • Ask your employer if they would be willing to match every dollar you raise.
  • Put posters up around the office letting people know about your fundraiser and how they can support you.
  • Host a morning tea or a BBQ at your workplace to support your fundraising activity.
  • Ask to be included in your employee newsletter if your company has one.

If you have a birthday or special occasion such as an anniversary or christening coming up, ask your friends to donate to your fundraiser instead of buying a gift.

If you’re participating in a physical fundraising activity ensure you maintain an appropriate training schedule to help you complete your challenge.

Don’t forget to say thank you to your supporters and let them know how much you raised for your charity!
