Gary E Poole


Gary is a Registered Psychologist and also completed qualifications in business management. He has held senior leadership roles in hospital and health services, social services and humanitarian aid agencies for over 30 years and in five countries.

Prior to joining Act for Kids in May 2015, Gary was Chief Executive Officer of RASNZ (the refugee health agency at the National Refugee Centre in Auckland, New Zealand) for nine years. Gary also represented the Refugee Council of New Zealand at the UNHCR forum in Geneva. Before this, Gary led a team developing health and hospital services for an international aid agency inside Afghanistan.

In his role with Act for Kids, Gary aims to achieve “ever better outcomes for the children and families we exist for and work to serve, through innovative programs and services, and evidence-based initiatives that work, and are connected to communities. It’s about making a difference, being part of something that improves the lives and futures of children, that brings them to a different and far better place than they might have been. Working together with children and families is a privilege.”
