They did it! The ten incredible women who took on the ‘Women in Business Trek for Kids’ have not only conquered the spectacular Arkaba Trail in the Flinders Ranges, but have raised almost $100,000 for abused and neglected kids!

These inspirational women really went the extra mile in making an incredible difference to the lives of vulnerable children, hiking for four days across a 60,000 acre private wildlife conservatory, and raising enough money to help 81 kids get access to intensive therapy for an entire year!

Act for Kids Board Director Zoe Newbury said trekking the Arkaba Trail was such an enriching and rewarding experience.

“The connection and feeling of empowerment that is generated when a group of women collaborate around a shared cause is so very powerful, and the Women in Business Trek for Kids certainly allowed us all to build relationships that hopefully will be enduring.

“I think everyone who participated feels proud that as group we were able to raise almost $100,000 to support abused and neglected kids,” she said.

Past Act for Kids Board Chair Lesley-Anne Houghton, who has now completed her fourth Trek for Kids, said she encourages others to support little lives all over Australia by participating in Act for Kids’ life-changing treks.

“When you trek for Act for Kids, you not only get to trek with an awesome group of like-minded people, adventuring through beautiful parts of Australia and the world, but you also get to know that you are making an incredible difference to others.

Every step we take on our treks helps vulnerable kids and families take another step forward in their lives,” she said.

Act for Kids is now busy preparing for the next Trek for Kids on the 22nd of September 2018. The Bibbulmun Trek for Kids will explore the magnificent National Parks, Karri forests and pristine coastlines of Western Australia’s southern wilderness.
