A new integrated therapy service will open in Gympie. With the help of funding support from Gympie based property specialist United Project Partners, Australian charity Act for Kids will soon open its first service in the Wide Bay-Burnett region.

The Gympie centre will provide an Integrated Therapy Service to help local children and young people overcome their experiences through ongoing therapeutic support, and counselling support for families with a range of challenges.

United Project Partners CEO and Act for Kids Ambassador, Gene Farrelly, said the partnership shows how organisations can work with other community organisations to make a real difference to the everyday lives of children.

“It makes a lot of sense to partner with an organisation that advocates for safer and happier childhoods. The service will provide ongoing support for local kids and families in need of guidance at crucial times in their lives.

“We are committed to providing the ongoing financial support to address the need for the services. We have agreed to lease and renovate the premises as well as fund a qualified therapist’s ongoing salary and administration expenses,” Gene Farrelly said.

Act for Kids CEO, Dr Neil Carrington, said United Project Partners was the right partner for the new service.

“Gene Farrelly shares our vision for a society that values children above all else. It is because of partners like United Project Partners that we are able to fund new services so we can fill the gaps in social needs and boost local service delivery.

“Sadly 1,367 children were confirmed as abused or neglected between the Gympie and Strathpine region (2011-2012), so there is an increasing demand for therapy services. The vision is to work in partnership with United Project Partners so we can create safer home environments and provide better access for the Wide-Bay-Burnett region children and their families,” Dr Neil Carrington said.

A dedicated appeal has started to raise the remaining funds and in-kind donations to help fit-out the centre and to purchase vital therapy equipment. You can designate your contribution to the centre to be used in the area of greatest need or contribute funds towards items found on our wish list. No contribution is too small and your gift will allow us to ensure the centre set up for success.
