Did you know that Act for Kids works alongside Traditional Owners to keep kids safe in their local communities?

To recognise the incredible contributions that Indigenous Australians make to our country and our society, each July we celebrate during National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee (NAIDOC) Week.

This year, our Toowoomba team went absolutely above and beyond, working for months to create a fun-filled NAIDOC Family Day in Wilsonton Park to support the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.

Gary Poole, Act for Kids Southern Queensland Regional Director, said he was proud of the Toowoomba team for organising such a successful and rewarding NAIDOC Week event packed with arts and crafts, dress-ups, delicious food and more.

“As a team, Act for Kids Toowoomba pulled off a wonderful family event which was attended by multiple services and most importantly, children and families,” Mr Poole said.

The seasonal weather comprised of a bit of rain, wind and cold but didn’t deter anyone, as the crowds, including Carbal Medical Services staff, Goolburri CEO, Commonwealth Bank sponsors and local counsellors, enjoyed all the festivities we had to offer.
