The SafeKIDS safe house in Napranum was our first safe house to be given a Licence for a Care Service. Now all five houses in Napranum, Kowanyama, Pormpuraaw, Aurukun and Doomadgee are officially licenced. The licence shows that the safe house and staff have achieved all standards needed to provide out-of-home care for children. It is part of the government’s quality assurance strategy and sets a minimum standard for residential care services to achieve so that they can offer good quality care for local kids. Services will be reviewed and re-accredited, usually every three years.
