You have to be a generous, caring person to provide great customer service while flying high in the skies, but the Qantas team has also been throwing their energy into ground-roots fundraising for Act for Kids.
The Brisbane team in particular has taken our cause and our kids to heart, this year alone theyve raised over $13,000 through merchandise and cake sales, raffles and a great turnout for the Bridge to Brisbane fun run. Act for Kids CEO, Dr Neil Carrington, said the enthusiasm and energy was contagious.
Some of the Qantas Brisbane team members have been long-term volunteers at Act for Kids, helping for many years at events. Its humbling that their commitment hasnt waned over the years, and now theyre being joined by the whole team to pull together and raise funds, and having great fun while they do it, Dr Carrington said.
In fact, their community spirit has spread to Sydney and Adelaide. During September the Sydney team raised over $13,000 through their sweat and kilometres in the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival and a recent raffle and bake sale. The Adelaide team has also hit the pavement for the City-Bay fun run and raised over $800.
During National Child Protection Week a talented member of Brisbanes Qantas Cabin Crew, Pearly, lent her voice to abused and neglected kids, singing Somewhere Over the Rainbow on our twinkletwinkle.org site. Courtney and Alex from Adelaide also recorded a lullaby for the thousands of abused and neglected children whove never heard one.
If you see the Qantas team selling merchandise or baked goods around the airport terminal, say hello and buy a little something knowing the money raised will support Act for Kids.
