Key players in the Victorian property industry Lendlease and the Property Industry Foundation (PIF) have come together to support local charity Act for Kids and facilitate a $300,000 refurbishment on their rundown Broadmeadows centre.
The charity works to treat and prevent child abuse and neglect and delivers intensive integrated therapy to children that have experienced or are at risk of child abuse and after only opening in October, the centre already has a waitlist of up to 70 children.
With thirty years’ experience delivering identical services in Queensland, South Australia and New South Wales, it was only a matter of time before Act for Kids made their way to Victoria to make a difference to the lives of as many of the 15,488 children that were confirmed as abused or neglected in Victoria last year as they can.
Lendlease and PIF recently completed an interior and exterior makeover on the charities new Victorian centre and celebrated the opening of the new play space, officially named ‘Lily’s Garden’ this week.
Kate Mills, CEO of the Property Industry Foundation said the new garden will be a beautiful place for children and young people to play and learn.
Executive General Manager of Lendlease Joe Kokai says as a long-time member of the Property Industry Foundation, Lendlease was proud to support Act for Kids’ vision that all kids have a safe and happy childhood, free from abuse and neglect.
“Together with our amazing team of consultants, subcontractors and suppliers we are delighted to be able to give something back to the Broadmeadows facility,” Mr Kokai said.
