A local early education professional has recently spent $50 on tickets in an online charity lottery offering a share in one million dollars’ worth of prizes, but says she considers the entry as a donation to help Act for Kids prevent and treat child abuse and neglect.

By purchasing two Play for Purpose tickets for just $25 each, Nicole Tran from Moggill has better than a 1 in 19 chance of winning one of over 11,000 prizes, including half-a-million in gold bullion, a $150,000 luxury car package and a $25,000 travel experience.

Mrs Tran said she has seen the tragic effects of child abuse and neglect during her many years working in early education and was delighted to know a simple lottery entry would help vulnerable children begin their journey towards a safe, happy and healthy childhood.

“Last year I was fortunate enough to meet Dr Neil Carrington at my work State Conference for Goodstart Early Learning, and his journey, stories and the cause behind Act for Kids sent goose bumps all over me,” she said.

“In my industry, we are often confronted with these stories, with children and families who are faced with abuse or neglect in different forms, and what we aim for each and every day is to keep our children safe, be inclusive and that means reaching the most vulnerable of children and giving them equal opportunities to the best start in life.

“Act for Kids are supporting children and families in our communities and making a difference to many children and families in our centres, and I want to be a part of this, a part of making a difference,” Mrs Tran said.

Act for Kids CEO Dr Neil Carrington said the proceeds from the lottery go straight to Act for Kids to provide children who have suffered abuse or neglect with the life-changing therapy they need to overcome their trauma.

“The more people who support Play for Purpose, the bigger impact we can have on Aussie kids and families affected by abuse or neglect.

“For those interested in winning great prizes and healing little hearts all at the same time, please visit www.playforpurpose.com.au/act-for-kids,” Dr Carrington said.

Drawn this month on the 25th of September, the win-win charity lottery provides a solution that rewards both supporters and some of Australia’s most valuable community organisations that deliver essential services every day.
