On Sunday 5 March, Act for Kids held our annual International Women’s Day Luncheon at Events on Oxlade in New Farm.
This year’s theme was #EmbraceEquity and aims to get the world talking about why “equal opportunities are no longer enough”.
On the day we were joined by over 100 likeminded people who shared a common vision for all children to have a safe and happy childhood.
Our guest speaker was the incredible Detective Sergeant Claire Arnold from the Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation – who literally had people crying and laughing with her storytelling about her journey working in child protection. What an inspirational and powerful leader she is!
The funds raised at the event will support Act for Kids’ Integrated Therapy Service –by providing therapy to children who have experienced trauma.
Act for Kids is grateful to everyone that attended the event, to celebrate the amazing women in our community, #EmbraceEquity and make a difference in the lives of children in Australia.
The event was proudly supported by Budget Direct (powered by Auto & General). Thank you also to Real Support Services and Mercedes-Benz Brisbane.
The event also received generous donations of raffle prizes from Mercedes-Benz, City Cave, Tree top Challenge, Australia Zoo, Queensland Theatre Company, HOTA, Indooroopilly Shopping Centre, Escape Manor Brisbane, Cork and Chroma, Five Star Cinemas, Area 51, Sunrise Zonta and Petals Florist Network. Thank you to all sponsors for your support.
