David Bell of King & Wood Mallesons hands over a $10,000 cheque to help fit-out the Centre of Excellence

Global law firm King & Wood Mallesons has a vision of supporting Queensland’s most vulnerable kids and families, making a generous donation of $10,000 directly to the Act for Kids Child and Family Centre of Excellence Appeal.

Our first purpose-built Child and Family Centre of Excellence is almost complete, expected to open in April 2014. The centre will provide a family friendly environment to support the wellbeing of thousands of children and families living in the Townsville region.

Act for Kids CEO, Dr Neil Carrington, said the $10,000 donation will be designated towards the purchase of vital therapy equipment and other necessary materials required to fit-out the centre.

“This specialist therapy equipment is a critical part of our intensive therapy program – it helps kids express themselves so our therapist can work through their experiences of abuse and neglect.

“Without our generous supporters, completing the project to an exceptional standard wouldn’t be possible. Private funding provides the resources needed to fit-out the centre and adjoining preschool, and support for ongoing resource and operational costs,” he said.

Over the past few years, the King & Wood Mallesons team has dedicated their time and effort to supporting Act for Kids’ initiatives through volunteering, pro bono work, Christmas toy donations, and our Workplace Giving program.
