Minster Crean breaking ground with CEO, Dr Neil Carrington

On 2 March 2013, we broke ground for the ACT for Kids Child and Family Centre of Excellence at the site of the new facility at James Cook University in Townsville. Minister for Regional Australia, Regional Development and Local Government, Simon Crean helped us commemorate the occasion by picking up a shovel and making a start on the ground work with ACT for Kids CEO, Dr Neil Carrington.

The ACT for Kids Child and Family Centre of Excellence will be a flagship facility in North Queensland, providing best-practice support to children who have experienced abuse and neglect, and families at risk.

We’d like to thankthe Regional Development Australia Fund and Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services, for providing significant support for the new facility, as well as James Cook University for donating the land.

We still need to raise vital funds to fit out our wonderful new facility with therapy specific designs and equipment. If you’d like more information on how you can help, please call Christine O’Flynn on 0448 619 909 or christino@actforkids.com.au.
