On 9 May 2013, Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, visited Act for Kids to unveil a plaque commemorating 25 years of dedication and service to Australian children and families.

During the celebrations the Governor-General was joined by Dr Neil Carrington, CEO of Act for Kids and Dr David Wood, founding Chairman who continues to serve as a Board Member.

The Governor-General has had a long association with Act for Kids, and she spoke of her great admiration of the charity since it was established as the Abused Child Trust in 1988.

Dr David Wood acknowledged the Governor-General for being a strong supporter and passionate advocate for the Abused Child Trust in its humble beginnings.

Since then, Act for Kids has grown from just one part-time therapist to providing a wide range of intensive therapy services to help thousands of Australian children and families affected by abuse and neglect.
