While monetary donations are wonderful and allow us to reach more children, sometimes a donation of services or time to Act for Kids can be just as meaningful.

What do we mean by a donation of services? By volunteering your time or services to Act for Kids say helping out at an event, providing us with pro bono legal support or other services, you are allowing us to spend more money on things that are important to us – like helping more children get the therapy they need!

Recently a group of staff from Marsh Pty Ltd, a global leader in insurance broking and risk management, spent the day at the Act for Kids Centre in Wooloowin cleaning up the yard and playgrounds for our kids to enjoy after all the nasty weather.

Senior Account Executive, Chanel McCanna said Marsh provides all staff with paid volunteering time so that they can help out local communities.

“It was great to see the Marsh team at the Wooloowin Act for Kids Centre, lending a hand to tidy their garden and kindy,” she said.

Act for Kids Fundraising Manager Karen McIntyre said more and more companies are encouraging their staff to volunteer as well as support charities through workplace giving.

“It’s been amazing to see organisations embrace all the different ways they can give back over the last few years. Particularly at Act for Kids, we’ve had a massive increase in the amount of pro bono support we receive as well as an increase in corporate volunteers and donations of prizes and experiences as prizes for our events. Every little bit helps,” Karen says.
