As our 30th year of treating and preventing child abuse and neglect came to a close, we knew we had to celebrate the positive impact we made on over 40,000 people in just one year alone – and celebrate we did! On the 1st of June we threw our biggest and most glamorous gala ball yet. The 2019 DECOdance Gala Ball raised over $90,000 for kids who have suffered abuse and neglect – that’s enough to provide 75 vulnerable kids with life-changing therapy for an entire year!

With over 400 guests pouring into the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre in their very best 1920s attire, it was a night of pure decadence!

Act for Kids CEO Dr Neil Carrington said he was overwhelmed by the generosity of the guests and major sponsors who helped create such a show-stopping event.

“It was a spectacular production all thanks to a huge team of staff, volunteers, special guests and sponsors.

“We can’t host an event like this without the continuous support and generosity of our community who believe in our vision that all kids have a safe and happy childhood, free from abuse and neglect.

“Thank you to all those who attended our special event to raise vital funds for kids in need,” Dr Carrington said.

Guests were entertained by the smooth sounds of Jazz Central, and then danced the night away to Magic Carpet Ride who took the room for a ride through the last fifty years of party tunes.

With live auctions, lotteries, raffles and a Lucky Guest Prize, this year’s event offered bespoke prizes for all, from the exclusive Anthony’s Fine Jewellery Diamond to luxury accommodation packages around the world supplied by Minor Hotels.
