We held our annual Gala Ball on 14 May and raised over $125,000 for treatment for children who have experienced abuse or neglect. More than 400 guests attended the French-inspired evening at the Sofitel Brisbane, participating in silent auctions, raffles and a lottery to raise funds for vulnerable children and families.
Last year 42,457* children were confirmed as abused or neglected in Australia, an increase on the year before, said Dr Neil Carrington, CEO, Act for Kids.
Its a sad fact the one child every 13 minutes experiences abuse or neglect in Australia to such a degree that authorities step in, said Dr Carrington.
