What a fabulous night dressing up in 80s attire, playing arcade games, dancing to the biggest hits from the decade and raising vital funds for kids who have suffered abuse and neglect.

It was a sight to see at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre as more than 1,200 Auto & General staff poured through the doors dressed in the most inspired and outrageous 80s outfits. From Pac-Man to Princess Leia, we saw it all!

Not only do Auto & General know how to throw a party, but with their unbelievably generous staff, we raised $39,000 in one night!

Act for Kids CEO Dr Neil Carrington says a donation of this size is enough to provide 32 vulnerable kids with the life-changing therapy they need to overcome their trauma.

“Christmas can be a really tough time for children who have experienced abuse, and this kind of support means that we are able to work with more children and get them on the road to recovery much faster,” Dr Carrington said.

Since 2008, Auto & General have supported our vision, and in 2012, formally moved to support us as our major charity beneficiary.

This month, together with Auto & General, we have been named a Queensland finalist in the 2020 Fundraising Institute of Australia’s (FIA) National Awards for the Best Strategic Partnership. We have developed a true relationship and strategic partnership with Auto & General based on mutual trust and respect.

Act for Kids CEO Dr Neil Carrington said Auto & General have had a significant impact on Act for Kids.

“Since our partnership began 10 years ago, Auto & General have funded more than 14,390 therapy hours to help more than 1,200 vulnerable children overcome their trauma.”

“A huge thank you to the Auto & General team for your ongoing commitment to helping traumatised kids receive the life-changing therapy they need to enjoy a brighter and successful future,” Dr Carrington said.
