The annual Act for Kids Gala Ball has earned its status as a shining star on Brisbanes social calendar. A dazzling crowd of close to 400 guests spent the evening dancing beneath the stars in the Grand Ballroom at the Sofitel Hotel Brisbane on 10 May to raise thousands of dollars to help Australias abused and neglected kids.
The evening was hosted by Channel Sevens Kay McGrath, while Pat Welsh played live auctioneer. Guests enjoyed a scrumptious three-course meal and energetic live performances from master guitarist Phil Emmanuel, RUSH band and Queensland Dance School of Excellence.
The grand lottery prize winner took home his and hers TAG Heuer watches valued at over $12k. The watches were not the only prizes on offer. With over 50 live and silent auction items to bid on, guests quickly snapped up overseas holidays and some extraordinary experiences.
Act for Kids CEO, Dr Neil Carrington, said the gala ball is the biggest annual fundraising event for Act for Kids, with the event raising almost $100,000.
The evening was an opportunity to celebrate our commitment to supporting the wellbeing of kids and families for over 25 years.
Act for Kids has assisted thousands of children in overcoming the emotional and psychological scars they wear from abuse and neglect, and the funds raised will ensure more kids have access to long-term therapy they so desperately need, Dr Carrington said.
Funds raised will help Act for Kids continue providing intensive therapy for children who have experienced abuse or neglect, and early support for families at risk.
