Leading up to Christmas the Act for Kids team was as busy as Santa’s elves gathering and distributing donated gifts for Queensland kids in need.

Volunteers wrapped hundreds of presents including toys, books, games and gift cards, which were then delivered by our Santa to kids in the Gold Coast, Maryborough, Cairns and Townsville.

Thank you to the following companies for enabling Act for Kids to help spread Christmas cheer to those children who will cherish it most: Sonic Clinical Services, Worley Parsons, Gail Bubb Dance Group, King & Wood Mallesons, St. George Bank, Licensys, Calender Club at Indooroopilly, Julie Korpelainen/ Kenmore South State School, Queensland Cricketers’ Club, Ray White Cairns Beaches /Smithfield branch, Bambini Early Childhood Development (Reedy Creek and Commbabah centres) and to the Cairns Regional Council who ran the Mayor’s Christmas Hamper Drive this year.

While all kids love presents, the biggest gift abused and neglected kids can receive is ongoing therapy and support, said Act for Kids CEO Dr Neil Carrington.

“We rely heavily on donations to support our intensive therapy programs for abused and neglected kids, and early support for families at risk,” said Neil. “Our aim is for kids to have a brighter future, not just at Christmas, but for the rest of their lives.”

There’s still time to donate to our Christmas Appeal or become a Kids’ Crusader. Your donation will help us keep our doors open and expand our services – our kids can’t thank you directly, but know you’ve made a big difference to little lives.
