MEDIA RELEASE
Peta-Kaye Croft, State Member for Broadwater, and the Honourable Phil Reeves MP, Minister for Child Safety and Minister for Sport, recognised ACT for Kids' important work on the Gold Coast and said thanks with a special afternoon tea Thursday 22 April at Ngulli Bui Park.
ACT for Kids Gold Coast Regional Manager, Kaye Pickering, said the team works tirelessly with kids and families suffering the effects of child abuse and neglect in the region.
"ACT for Kids plays an important role in the Gold Coast community and it's great for our team to be formally recognised by the Minister and our State Member.
"We hope this acknowledgement and thanks from the Government helps to raise public awareness of our work and strengthen the relationship between ACT for Kids, the Department of Communities Child Safety Services and the Gold Coast community," Kaye said.
ACT for Kids provides intensive therapy and referral for active intervention services in the region. While some services are funded by the Department of Communities, ACT for Kids relies heavily on community support and fundraising.
Peta-Kaye Croft thanked the team for their hard work and contribution to the local community, helping children overcome child abuse and neglect.
"ACT for Kids performs a difficult and essential role in our community and I can’t thank the team enough for their commitment to our kids and their future," Peta-Kaye said.
Friends of ACT for Kids, a Gold Coast based fundraising team, is motivated to engage the local community and raise much needed funds to ensure ACT for Kids' innovative programs continue to support and help kids in the area.
